Now that I am done with my 3 week FB Fast I want to share what I experienced.
1) I do NOT need FB as much as I thought I did.
2) I read my Bible more and spent more time in prayer. It was a great experience and I enjoyed the time of focus. I found myself, and still do, reading more and praying without ceasing!
3) The weeks/days leading up to Easter were amazing. It started with Good Friday evening with a time of praise and worship that set the stage and prepared our hearts for the weekend. It was amazing! The weeks leading up to it I prayed for people to come to the new PLC-Waterloo Campus that opened on Easter Sunday. Not only did they come, but 340 people came, PRAISE JESUS! But wait, It gets better folks- a total of 4000 people came to PLC- between the Cedar Falls and Waterloo campuses and over 100 people stepped over the faith line- that means they came to know Jesus! It was amazing to see people take that step.
Jon and I are so overwhelmed to be a part of what God is doing in Iowa. That God chose us to be a part of something bigger than what either of us will ever be. Take a gander at the pictures and Good Fridayservice, enjoy!
Today is my 30th birthday. I’m used to being around my family and celebrating with lots of family members who share birthdays. Even though it’s not that this year, this birthday has been just super! The night before I went to my friend, Summer’s house for a delicious dinner and homemade cheesecake! It was fantastic and I enjoyed it very much- thanks Summer, Siendra and Sayla. Today I went to work, and since I’m the receptionist, once it was made known it was my birthday, everyone wished me a happy birthday. For lunch, 9 of us went to “BarnHappy” which was a huge barn made into a quaint cafe style and shop. It was fantastic and I enjoyed the company even if they played the loonngeessst happy birthday song EVER and made me dance while it played while everyone else clapped and sang. Good Times!!! The last part was the best when my friend Shari told me that there is a Red Robin close by. Sooo pumped for this. Jon and I drove to Cedar Rapids to eat dinner at Red Robin and spend my gift cards at Kohls and Target. Sooo good and fun! Thanks to everyone who made my birthday special. Also, I have been getting an email showing me all my FB wall posts of my Happy Birthday posts (Jon went in and changed my setting just for today because he wanting me to see all my bd wishes) Thank you for all my Birthday wishes! I am so grateful for my 30 years of healthy, fun, loved, and blessed life.
I made it through week 2 of my FB fast. It was a very busy and full week. I didn’t miss FB much at all. It is amazing how when you take a break from something, that you don’t think you could live without, how it gets easier over time to actually go on without it. Anyways, this week was full with Jon’s family visiting, getting our completed home study in the mail, mailing off 6 applications for grants for our adoption, and setting up PLC-Waterloo at Hoover Middle School for the very first time ever! So many things happening and God is evident in all of it. I love seeing God work in my daily life’s happenings. Jon and I were blessed by a few friends this week so we were able to pay our $500 fee. Thanks you & Praise Jesus! Now, we are trying to be creative and come up with ideas to raise $3000. Please pray for us that we will not grow weary and keep our trust and hope in God and not of ourselves. This week is another big one. It’s our first service tomorrow morning, my 30th birthday week, and then Easter- YEA! So excited and I hope you are planning on going to a service to hear about what Jesus did for all of us.
Our homestudy is done and on our way to our house so we can move onto the next step. The next step seems like a HUGE hurdle and it’s not going to be easy, but we have complete faith that the Lord will provide. We have to come up with $500 (actually $400 because the Lord provided $100 of it through an unexpected gift from a friend today, Praise JESUS!) by the end of this week, 3/26. Then, we have $3000, $9000, and another $9000 to come up with. So, we are in full swing of sending in applications for grants and the website is almost done. Please pray for us that we will not be anxious, worried, or stressed over the details that only God can control. I know it is not by accident that I am fasting from FB during this time, because I am able to focus my time on being with HIM (and our adoption paperwork)! Thank you all for the encouraging emails I have received this past week. You are amazing and I appreciate you all! Hugs and I can not wait to share with you more how the Lord is moving in our process.
Reason #6213 why I love him.
“However, as it is written:
“No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those that
love Him.” 1Cor2.9
Today was my first day of my FB fast. I started out my morning with picking up my phone and looking for the blue FB app on my phone. Lucky me, it was NOT there. You know what was there? My YouVersion Bible App. I am glad that I took all the tempations away for me to access FB. I took off my app and then reset my settings and had Jon change my password so I could not get into it, even if I tried to “cheat”. My readings today are in Deuteronomy 28 and were about Blessings for Obedience. It never ceases to amaze me that The Lord puts me in the Perfect place at the perfect time.
